The Story of the Bluebird Cafe
| The Bluebird Cafe, owned by Bart Shumaker of Wakefield, RI, is the third of its kind. Bart and his partner Sally opened the first Bluebird Cafe in New Orleans, LA in 1987. They felt that in a city known for its wonderful food, there was a definite need for a special breakfast and lunch diner where you could relax and get a freshly prepared meal for a good price. The Bluebird grew to be so popular that in 1994, a second one was opened a few miles away to accomodate the long lines and demand for Bluebird fare. In 1997, Bart returned to his home state of Rhode Island in order to be closer to his family and to enjoy the benefits of South County with his two children, Ruby and Emmett. Once again, Bart is busy cooking up his famous Huevos Rancheros as well as his Southwestern, Cajun, and Creole specials. |
